Rieder’s 2021 Grüner Veltliner Reserve is a selection from 70-year-old vines cultivated on the south-facing plateau of the Ried Hohenleiten, where the vines root in loess, loamy and sandy soils. Vinified in stainless steel, the golden-yellow colored Veltliner opens with a deep, fine, elegant and intensely aromatic bouquet of ripe, lush white and yellow stone fruits intermingled with mineral and sur lie notes. Round and elegant on the palate, this is a full-bodied, enormously fruity and aromatic wine with ripe and refined but vitalizing mineral and saline acidity that carries this rich but vivacious and elegant Veltliner to a long and aromatic finish that reveals ripe stone fruit aromas and even some licorice notes. Eine Selektion der besten Trauben aus über 70 jährigen Rebstöcken. Schonendes Pressen und lange Lagerung auf der Hefe ergeben einen komplexen Wein mit großem Potential. Kräftig und würzig im Mund, feine Säure, viel Schmelz und Griff am Gaumen, pfeffrige, mineralische Aromen mit Tiefe, sehr guter Abgang.

The 2018 Grüner Veltliner Reserve is a selection from the oldest, partly 70-year-old vines planted on a south-facing high plateau on loess, loam and sand soils. Vinified in stainless steel, this golden-yellow colored Veltliner is full-bodied, very rich and concentrated, powerful and textured, with lots of extract sweetness and substance. This 2018 has muscles but also elegance and balance, yet it’s definitely a slow-drinking Veltliner to be served with rich dishes. The wine finishes fresh and with fine phenols due to a good mineral backbone and structure.
